Nala passed away on August 13, 2011 or to be more exact, we helped her across to the Rainbow Bridge as the cancer had completely invaded her stomach.
I want you all to know that she had a very good last day. We went to her favorite place, Lake View Park, and walked around a bit before we drove to the vet. Once there, we spent some time in the car with the AC blasting and open window from where she watched everything outside. Once the vet was ready for Nala we walked in. The clinic had closed so it was very calm. It was just the vet, a vet tech, Page, Mike and me there. They lifted Nala up on the table and she died peacefully in my arms.
Nala meant as much to me as my own dogs. As a matter of fact, she would have been mine, many, many years ago, should she not have hated my boyfriend as well as most other dogs. I miss her so very much and I know many of you do to. Just remember, she had a good last day, she did not have to suffer and she went with dignity.
To my beloved Nala - I miss you!
Caroline
This is Nala's story:
Sweet, little Nala was the son's dog. Mom and dad split, the son went to college and Nala ended up with dad. Dad died suddenly and Nala found herself living with mom, who had never wanted the dog. Mom called us and once we saw Nala, we knew she was to be one of ours. She is a strange looking, totally smell-obsessed little dog, but she sneaks her way into your heart.
One thing we remember about Nala is that she hated getting her paws wet and when you took her out in the morning she would walk like she was on pins and needles. It cracked as all up. It was also very strange as she loved going into lakes and ponds. Another funny thing she did was bark and then pounce on the Osprey feathers that would drop on the ground. That still makes us smile.
