PET
THERAPY
At Satchel's Last Resort, we work with all our dogs to
qualify them for pet therapy work. Once they become
certified, we take them into hospitals, nursing homes, and
schools. We are currently bringing pet therapy dogs to
the following places: |
Blake Hospital
Once or twice a
month, we take pet therapy dogs to Blake Hospital in
Bradenton and work with the people in the Recreational
Therapy Department. The dogs visit with patients in
the hospital's therapy room, and then we take the dogs to
the rooms of the patients who have requested to see them.

Heritage Park Nursing Home
Two or three times a month, we
go to The Heritage Park Nursing Home in Bradenton. We take
our dogs to the physical and occupational therapy room to
visit with residents and then we go to the residents’ rooms
to talk and to let them visit with the therapy dogs. |

TEMPORARY
CARE
In
addition to our pet therapy work, we try to serve the
community by taking in the pets of people who aren’t able to
care for them for a few weeks or months. Whether it’s a case
of incapacitating surgery, a violent home situation, or a
catastrophic event; if we have the space, we will care for
the pet until the person is once again capable of doing so. |
