Elcee is a free-spirited, independant cat. She enjoys sitting your lap (when *SHE* wants to!) and is known to steal your pillow as her bed in the middle of the night. As she has aged her activity level has decreased, but she will still follow you around to give your shins a few head-butts. She loves to have her chin rubbed, and will reward you with a comforting rumble of a purr.
Medically, she has hypertension (high blood pressure) and requires twice-a-day pills to control it. Due to the hypertension she has developed ataxia, and has a difficult time walking. She can get to her food and water, and can get in and out of a low-sided litterbox. The doctors believe the hypertension may be caused by a nuerological condition, but we can't be sure. In addition to her hypertension, she has diminished liver capacity due to the pet food recalls from a few years back, and has some scarring in her lungs that is unexplained, but has not presented itself as an issue.
We would truly love to keep her, but her medical needs are becoming too much for us and we can't keep up with them. We want to find her a home that will be able to provide the attention (both loving and medical) that she needs so that she may live out a rich and fullfilling life. We rescued her in Pinellas County roughly 5 years ago.
She is spayed, however her vaccinations are *NOT* current. The vets recommended we withhold on them until her condition stabilizes. She is tolerant of other cats, however isn't playful with them. We have another cat that would love to play with her, but she will have nothing to do with him. She has been around children from infants to toddlers to pre-teens, and has never shown agression towards them. I will forewarn that she will swat/scratch/bite when she doesn't want to be handled.
We live in Apollo Beach, but will gladly travel statewide to find her a loving home. phone is (813) 857-7661. Allen
